Buyer Beware
I have been a follower of Kiefer since 2001, and I’ve paid to see them play three times from 2001 to 2004. Their show in Atlanta on June 4th, 2026 was supposed to be like revisiting an old friend. Let me start off by saying that this was not the case.
Wes’ voice was not up to par by any stretch. He held back on all of the high notes and didn’t hold onto any notes. Instead, he would start a lyric and then point the microphone in the audience for them to finish the line. I should have paid the audience instead of Ticketmaster because we sang at least half of the songs that were played.
The drummer did mess up the beginning of Drift & Die instrumentally. It was like he was playing an entirely different song at first, and all you could hear was this annoying bass drum drowning out Wes’ voice in the beginning of the song. However, the music was great.
One other note worth mentioning is that the bass player did most the commentary in between songs. Everyone is there to see and hear Wes, so it's sort of annoying.
Overall, not the Kiefer I’m used to seeing in the past. The show was entertaining, but since it was on a Thursday, I can’t complain too much. I wouldn’t pay to see them on a weekend night.
